FIRST Robotics Competition 2021
Houston 2022
World Championships in 2022 will be held only in Houston, April 20 - 23. Ten teams from PCH qualified, and we were proud to be one of them. CSP was part of the Turing field, and we traveled to Houston to compete alongside our friends and brother team OGRE. This was a fun trip, but Pyxis struggled to show how strong and successful a robot she is. We had a rough qualifying tournament, but we were selected to join the Fifth seed alliance, as the fourth robot. In the end, we wrapped our competition season in the semi-finals for the field, losing to the eventual field champions. We were rewarded, though, because that field champion ended up as FINALISTS on Einstein (entering the finals as top seed). It was a fun day cheering on our field.
The event included the standard conferences and activity get-togethers, and we had a great time seeing teams from 40 countries -- for the first time since 2019. It was terrific being back in the FIRST community in person, and we cannot wait to see what's next -- in the new Charged Up season!

PCH Championships
The PCH Championship was held in Macon, Georgia at Mercer University on April 7 - 9. Proudly, CSP participated in this event, ranked fourth in the State. In the end, we were selected to alliance with our friends from RoboLions, finishing as finalists for the event. Additionally, Pyxis was awarded the Innovation in Control award for the moving shot that she had shown off in competition. This qualified us for one of the ten spots in the World Championships in Houston, Texas. With such a small number of allotted spots, we were honored to be the highest non-guaranteed spot from PCH -- as the third ranked team in the State.
The 2022 Events
The competitions for 2022 are scheduled to return to a variation of normal, with four competitions across the PCH. CSP will compete in Columbus (week 3) and Carrollton (week 4).
Columbus Event, March 18 - 19
The Columbus event was highly successful for CSP. We had multiple alumni visit, including Skyla B and Sean M who were part of the "voices" of the Columbus event. That isn't all -- it was a weekend of 18 matches of Qualification matches, where we entered Alliance Selections raked 1st and paired with our friends from the Commodores and the Space Dragons for Eliminations. We finished the event UNDEFEATED! It was an amazing experience and we loved winning the Columbus event. Plus, we finished the event as Engineering Inspiration winners. . We're already looking forward to our next event in Carrollton.
Carrollton Event, March 24 - 25
This year, PCH competed in Carrollton for the first time. It was a more challenging event for CSP, but we were ultimately successful. We finished qualifications ranked third, and became Alliance Captains for the Second Seed alliance with our friends from Walton and the Avengers. Ultimately, we finished this event as Finalists. This is not what we hoped for, but we enjoyed the work with these partners and learned so much that will prepare us for State. Additionally, CSP was named as the Industrial Design award winners, which is quite a compliment for our Pyxis.
Dean's List
This year, we nominated two students for Dean's List. Ta'Shaun B and Arha G. Arha interviewed as part of the Columbus FRC event, and Ta'Shaun interviewed in Carrollton. Neither were selected as Semi-Finalists for State, but both were successful in their efforts to show the work they've done with CSP.
Chairman
In 2022, CSP was not successful in being named as Chairman winners, however we believe so strongly in our program and it's impact. We'll continue with a renewed effort for 2023, but we are proud of the work we've done and have no regrets.

BUILD Season
This year, CSP is building a robot to be named Pyxis -- after a constellation in the Southern Hemisphere which means Compass. This robot will be a new challenge but we have found that our prototyping and fabrication methods have been improving through the pandemic. We are excited to see Pyxis compete this season.
Off Season
This year, team Ecliptic and the Astrobots returned for FTC play. We also held the Columbus League at HQ. In the end, the League was successful in landing all six teams in the playoffs for the Southern Region with two teams (SASH and Hardaway) continuing on to State. CSP was able to use our experience with hosting the Columbus FRC event to help us make the league stronger and stronger with each Meet. We are confident that our FTC experience will make our FRC hosting stronger as well.
